Top Upcoming Smartphones - January 2019

While 2018 has been a year of some top class smartphone innovations, where we saw a lot of phones being launched under different flagships, price range and features. The year witnessed premium features like dual/triple rear cameras, powerful process, display upgradation and increased RAM, leaving us excited about how smartphone brands will perform even better in 2019.

Talking about the upcoming smartphones of 2019, the year hasn’t even begun but rumour mills around some highly anticipated smartphone have already caught some pace. These smartphones include the OnePlus 7, Samsung Galaxy S10, Nokia 9 PureView and more. We already have some idea in regards to what the upcoming smartphones of 2019 might have in store for us and smartphone enthusiasts are highly like to see more camera lenses, better AI, 5G connectivity and other such features in premium smartphones next year.



Let’s take a look at the upcoming smartphones in January 2019.

Honor View 20


Honor confirmed the launch or Honor View 20 in January as an Amazon Exclusive.


Huawei sub-brand Honor confirmed the launch of the Honor View 20 in the country in January. The smartphone is launching globally on January 22 and has been confirmed by Honor that View 20 will be an Amazon-exclusive in India. It will come with the first 48-megapixel shooter backed by Kirin 980 chipset, 25-megapixel front camera and a 4,000mAh battery with 22.5 SuperCharge fast charging support.


 Nokia 9 PureView




The Nokia 9 PureView has recently made it to the headlines since it is expected to become the first smartphone from the brand to feature a Penta-lens setup which will be arranged in a hexagon shaped arrangement (3-1-3 formation) along with an LED flash as well as laser tech. There might also be an in-display fingerprint scanner while the aspect ratio might still be limited to 18:9, if recent leaks are to be believed. Further, there could be a 5.9-inch Quad HD 3D OLED display while the smartphone might be powered by the Snapdragon 845 coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. Just like all other Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 9 PureView will also be based on the Android One platform.


Vivo Nex Dual Display 

Vivo Nex Dual Display smartphone was launched in December 2018. The phone comes with a 6.39-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2340 pixels.



The Vivo Nex Dual Display is powered by octa-core processor and it comes with 10GB of RAM. The phone packs 128GB of internal storage. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition packs a 12-megapixel (f/1.79) primary camera and a 2-megapixel (f/1.8) secondary camera.

The Vivo Nex Dual Display is powered by a 3500mAh. It measures 157.19 x 75.30 x 8.09 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 199.20 grams.

The Vivo Nex Dual Display is a Dual-SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Fingerprint sensor, Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.


Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 


Xiaomi is releasing a new smartphone Redmi Pro 2 with a 48-megapixel camera in January 2019. The Redmi smartphone bearing a 48 MP camera could be officially unveiled on the 10th of January 2019 in China. The teaser has a new Redmi logo, which will be unveiled along with the launch of the first Redmi smartphone with a 48 MP camera.


The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 mobile features a 5.5" (13.97 cm) display with a screen resolution of Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) and runs on Android v6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system. The device is powered by Octa core, 2.5 GHz, Cortex A53 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. As far as the battery is concerned it has 4500 mAh. Over that, as far as the rear camera is concerned this mobile has a 12 MP camera . Other sensors include Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, Gyroscope. So, does it have a fingerprint sensor? Yes, it does. For graphical performance that can make games run smoothly, this phone has got a Mali-T880 MP2 GPU. On board storage is at 64 GB with the option to expand the memory by Yes Up to 256 GB.

Realme A1 



Rumour is that this new phone is allegedly the cheapest phone launched by Realme.The phone shows a dual rear camera with an LED flash and a waterdrop notch, which will definitely make the phone look modern and trendy. There is also a fingerprint scanner in the center of the back panel of the phone.


As per reports, Realme A1 will run on a 1.8GHz Octa-core processor and it will function on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. There is an 8MP front camera and a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera available and the battery is 4200 mAh, which is good for a mid-range phone. The phone will be available in 2 variants – 2GB/3GB RAM with expandable storage too.


Moto G7 Phones




The Moto G7 and G7 Plus are both expected to pack 1080p LCD displays, with the G7 at 6in and the G7 Plus at 6.4in. That's a bit of a size bump over the 5.7in and 5.9in displays of the Moto G6 models, thanks to the likely taller dimensions on each due to the notch. The Moto G7 Power is rumoured to feature a 720p display at 6.22in, while the Moto G7 Play's screen specs are currently unknown.

The Moto G7 and Moto G7 Plus will both opt for mid-range processors, as expected. Android Central points to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 on the G7, and a bit more power from either the Snapdragon 670 or 710 on the G7 Plus.


Leaks suggest a slightly weaker Snapdragon 632 for both the Moto G7 Play and G7 Power, but that should still be plenty enough power to solidly run 3D games, stream whatever media you please, and have a relatively smooth Android 9 Pie experience.


Samsung Galaxy M-series

Samsung is expected to launch its Galaxy M-series with three new smartphones - Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30.



Samsung Galaxy M3 or M30 was spotted on GeekBench with a model number of SM-M305F. The phone could be powered by the Exynos 7885 processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It could be available with with 64GB or 128GB storage.

Samsung Galaxy M20 could have a screen resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. It will have a screen aspect ratio of 19.5:9 with a notch on top on the display. It could be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7885 processor, coupled with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU.


The phone could feature 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. It is expected to run Experience UI skin, based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
